Product Details

The second most common hedge species planted in the UK, the thorns of this species are a deterrent for cattle and intruders alike! The blackthorn is closely related to the cherry, and its fruit are generally too tart to eat plucked off the tree but are commonly used as flavourings in various foods and drinks, most famously Sloe Gin. They are also enjoyed by a large number of bird species.
